Sports coaching in the community: Developing knowledge and insight

Edited by Laura Gale and Ben Ives

The origins of this book lie in a community sports coaching symposium hosted by Cluster for Research into Coaching (CRiC).

Description

The origins of this book lie in a community sports coaching symposium hosted by Cluster for search into Coaching (CRiC).

The event was held at Manchester Metropolitan University in April, 2018 and it sought to share knowledge and insight from scholars and practitioners regarding the challenges, tensions, and realities of the community sports coaching profession.

This book features chapters from academics, practitioners, and postgraduate students in relation to

a) the monitoring and evaluation in community sport coaching.

b) the implementation and enactment of coach education and coach mentoring.

c) the everyday realities of practice for practitioners.

d) the development of care.

e) strengths-based coaching.

We hope that by sharing research across these areas, this book can act as an interactive learning resource for those individuals (i.e., academics, practitioners, educators, policy makers, and students) wishing to develop their knowledge and understanding of community sports.
